The media union SSM expressed its "shock" on Monday at the planned job cuts at Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen SRF. It warns of the loss of diversity and quality as well as the consequences for employees.
"The media union is calling for a halt to the restructuring and downsizing plans," the organization wrote in a reaction. If journalistic decisions were concentrated in one place, the internal diversity and internal competition between the editorial offices and locations would be lost, it said.
The cost-cutting program is particularly painful for the information offerings of the "Tagesschau" and in the regions. The "Tagesschau" is one of SRF's central tasks. "The fact that savings are being made here is unacceptable and also politically undesirable," wrote the Swiss Syndicate of Media Professionals.
