Study: AI saves employees an hour a day

Artificial intelligence, or "AI" for short, has been on everyone's lips for some time now. According to a survey by HR service provider Adecco, employees in Switzerland have become significantly more productive thanks to AI.
Employees in Switzerland save an average of 51 minutes per day by using AI, according to a survey published on Thursday. This leaves more time for creative tasks, strategic thinking or a better work-life balance. According to the survey, the time saved across all countries surveyed is even slightly higher at one hour per day.
The time savings appear to be confirmed across all sectors, the report continues. On a global level, employees in the energy, utilities and environmental technologies sectors reported the highest time savings at 75 minutes per day.
The lowest figure - in the aerospace and defense sector - was 52 minutes per day. Employees in the technology sector saved an average of 66 minutes per day, in the financial sector 57 minutes and in manufacturing 62 minutes per day.
According to Adecco, the survey indicates that the time saved is being used to create more value. In Switzerland, 31% of respondents said that they used the additional time for more creative work, 27% said that they were able to spend more time on strategic thinking thanks to AI, and 28% said that AI had helped them achieve a better work-life balance.
Not only productive
However, according to Adecco, there are also signs that the time saved thanks to AI is not always used productively. 23 percent of those surveyed stated that they were managing the same workload, and 23 percent of those surveyed stated that they were spending more time on personal activities.
Adecco's annual "Global Workforce of the Future" survey was conducted among 35,000 employees in 27 leading economies, including 1005 participants from Switzerland.
