The streetcars in the city of Bern are gradually resuming operations. Two lines have been running as usual since Saturday morning, and two more should follow in the course of the morning.
The situation is different for two other connections. The Bahnhof-Fischermätteli section of line 6 and the Bahnhof-Saali connection of line 8 are expected to remain closed until Sunday, as Rolf Meyer from the Bernmobil transport company told the Keystone-SDA news agency on Saturday.
The heavy snowfall had put the streetcars out of action since Thursday evening. On Friday, they had to remain in the depot due to the large amounts of ice and snow. Replacement buses were in operation. Customers had to be patient.
The clearing work was more complex than expected because a lot of snow had been pressed into the points. Branches had also damaged the overhead lines.
