Representatives of the Yes campaign for the Efas proposal were delighted after its adoption on Sunday. The Yes vote proves that healthcare reforms are possible in Switzerland. A system error has now been corrected.

The principle of "outpatient before inpatient" saves money overall, the advocates wrote in a press release. However, misguided funding means that premium payers do not benefit from the cost advantages. So far, this has slowed down the shift to the outpatient sector. "This system error is now being corrected."

The reform improves the framework conditions because patient care does not have to take different forms of financing into account. "Unnecessary inpatient stays or premature admissions to nursing homes can be avoided," it said. Integrated care will be promoted.

All major parties were represented on the campaign co-presidium. Around 50 organizations from the healthcare sector joined forces under the leadership of the healthcare associations Artiset/Curaviva, Curafutura, FMH, H+, Spitex Switzerland, Medswissnet and Pharmasuisse.
