The actor Abou Sangare was awarded Best European Actor in Lucerne on Saturday evening. He received Europe's highest award for an actor for his leading role in "Souleyman's Story"

In the film, Sangare plays an undocumented food delivery man who delivers orders in Paris. As he cycles through the streets, his story is repeated. The plot is similar to the actor's life story.

Abou Sangare came to France as a refugee from Guinea in 2017. He was not present in person at the award gala in Lucerne. He was connected via video call. He won the award against Daniel Craig ("Queer"), Ralph Fiennes ("Conclave"), Lars Eidinger ("Dying") and Franz Rogowski ("Bird").

The French-Swiss actress Irène Jacob and the Iranian actress Zar Amir announced the winner on stage, visibly excited.
