The southern Graubünden valley of Misox is expecting costs of CHF 74.1 million to repair the massive storm damage from June. This was explained by those responsible for the region to the media in Roveredo GR on Thursday.
According to the documents presented, Misox is expecting a federal contribution of CHF 9.8 million and a separate contribution of CHF 16.9 million from the Federal Roads Office. A further CHF 14.3 million is to come from the canton, CHF 12.4 million from the Graubünden building insurance company and CHF 11.5 million from third parties. The Misox municipalities want to raise 9.2 million francs themselves.
"There is a lot to do," Philippe Sundermann from the regional coordination group told the media. And there will also be a lot to do in the next two years.
Roads, infrastructure structures, agricultural land, buildings and hydropower plants must be restored. In addition, protective structures against natural hazards must be repaired and, if necessary, extended. Work is already underway.
