The Zurich Cantonal Police arrested three men for helping others cheat on their driver's license theory test. On Thursday, July 13th, they arrested a 33-year-old Kosovar who had previously equipped a police officer with technical equipment for the theory test. With the help of video and audio transmission devices, the investigator was guided through the theoretical test at the Road Traffic Office. The 33-year-old Kosovar was arrested when returning the equipment. During house searches on the same day, various technical equipment such as mobile phones, microphones, cameras and earphones as well as cash were seized. A 30-year-old Swiss and an illegally present 23-year-old Kosovar were also arrested. The three arrested and a 60-year-old Serb had been illegally helping test takers since summer 2022. It is not known how many people took advantage of the offer. An investigation is being conducted to determine whether there is a connection to a similar case in Mels SG from early July 2023. The public prosecutor's office has opened a criminal case and requested detention for the two Kosovars. In June 2021, a similar test fraud was uncovered in Winterthur. At that time, a 36-year-old Turk appeared at the Winterthur Road Traffic Office for the theory test equipped with a camera, mobile phone and earplugs. A staff member of the Road Traffic Office noticed the equipment and called the police.
