Traffic Jam on Sunday Before the Gotthard in Both Directions

On Sunday, there was a seven kilometre long traffic jam at the Gotthard North Portal on the A2, causing a delay of up to one hour and ten minutes for southbound travellers. There was also a three kilometre long traffic jam between Quinto TI and the Dosierstelle Airolo TI rest stop, causing a delay of up to half an hour. On Saturday, the traffic jam at the North Portal had reached 16 kilometres. According to the Uri Cantonal Police, the increased traffic caused by the diversion led to increased traffic on cantonal roads and in residential areas in Erstfeld UR.
