Electronic Autobahn Toll Tag Available in a Few Days

The Swiss Federal Office for Customs and Border Protection (BAZG) has announced that the electronic version of the annual motorway vignette will be available from 1 August 2020. The price of the vignette remains at 40 Swiss francs per year. It can be purchased through the BAZG's Via Portal or www.e-vignette.ch, without the need for a user account or personal information. Payment can be made online. The electronic vignette is linked to the vehicle's registration plate, making it useful for vehicles used by multiple people. The introduction of the electronic vignette has been debated for years, and the Swiss Parliament has decided that the traditional sticker vignette will be abolished if its share of total sales falls below 10%. Automated checks with fixed and mobile devices will be conducted on a risk-based and random basis, rather than on a permanent and widespread basis.
