Wolves in the Bündner Oberland region of Switzerland have killed and eaten a young calf. The 200kg calf was found by shepherds on the Alp Nalps near Sedrun on Tuesday morning. The Bündner Amt für Jagd und Fischerei believes that the Stagias-Rudel pack was responsible for the attack. According to the new national hunting regulations, the canton can now apply to the federal government for a pack regulation. If the hunting authority can prove that it was the Stagias-Rudel pack, it can shoot two thirds of its offspring, which would be three of the five young wolves. Wolf attacks on cattle are relatively rare, but have been increasing in recent years. In Graubünden last year, six of the 500 killed animals were of the cattle family.
