Retour au fil d'actualité

A new sail-drone has been developed to observe waterfowl and mammals near the shore. The drone, named "SailMAV", is 250 grams and has foldable wings, allowing it to fly and sail on the water without disturbing the animals. This allows for accurate observations of the behaviour of wild animals and the effects of climate change on the ecosystem. Developing the drone to fly and sail was a challenge, as the design requirements for movement on water and in air were contradictory. The researchers solved this by making the wings foldable. The drone can fold its wings with a span of almost one meter in a few seconds and over a distance of less than ten meters. The researchers are now working on making the drone able to do this under real conditions with wind and weather.nnnn
