On Friday evening, a ten kilometer long traffic jam formed in front of the Gotthard South Portal on the A2 motorway. The time loss between Faido TI and Rastplatz Dosierstelle Airolo was one hour and fifty minutes. In the southbound direction, the traffic jam between Erstfeld UR and Göschenen was eight kilometers long, resulting in a time loss of one hour and thirty minutes. Throughout the summer holidays, especially on Fridays and weekends, long traffic jams occurred in front of the Gotthard North Portal. On July 22nd, the traffic jam was 18 kilometers long, the longest traffic jam recorded in Switzerland this summer. There have also been traffic jams in front of the Gotthard South Portal in recent weeks, but this is the first time this summer that it has exceeded the 10 kilometer mark.nnnn
