ATM blown up in Uesslingen, Thurgau

Unknown persons blew up an ATM in Uesslingen TG on Thursday night. According to the cantonal police, the perpetrators fled without any loot.

The cantonal emergency call centre received a report shortly before 2.45 a.m (19.10.23) of a loud bang at the Volg supermarket on Schaffhauserstrasse, the Thurgau cantonal police wrote in a media release on Thursday morning.

The police quickly arrived on the scene and found the service building of the ATM destroyed.

So far, there are no clues to the perpetrators. As is usual with explosives offences, the investigation is being coordinated with the federal authorities.

ATM blasts have increased sharply in Switzerland in recent years. The unknown perpetrators usually strike in the middle of the night or in the early hours of the morning. There were several dozen cases throughout Switzerland in 2022.
