La police cantonale de Bâle-Ville s'inquiète d'un incident qui s'est produit aux premières heures de la nouvelle année.
The Basel police patrol was surrounded by several hundred people and “massively threatened” on New Year’s Day. Thanks to the calm and competent response from the service men and woman the situation did not escalate further to any casualties or injuries.
According to a statement from the Basel-Stadt cantonal police on Tuesday, the incident took place early on New Year’s morning in Kleinbasel. The patrol was taking place as usual when, suddenly, the experienced Basel police present found themesleves surrounded by a mob of extreme left wing activists.
The attackers had severely damaged the patrol vehicle. Fortunately, however, the windows of the police vehicle remained intact. The policewoman and the policeman were on patrol. Criminal proceedings have been initiated.
When asked, a police media spokesman said that the policewoman and the policeman had saved themselves by driving on carefully.
