Crowd control in Zurich’s District 4 escalates, resulting in one arrest and a police officer injured after dozens attacked police officers.
Dozens of people attacked two police officers in Zurich. On Saturday night, a crowd control in District 4 escalated and one person was arrested and a police officer was slightly injured in the head.
The incident occurred after two women were standing on Hohlstrasse and blocked a patrol car from continuing its journey, Zurich city police reported on Saturday. The women had kicked the vehicle.
When the police officers wanted to check the women, dozens of people appeared and harassed a police officer as he got out of the car, according to the city police. Together with other people, they then prevented the police officers from getting into the vehicle.
A police officer used an irritant “due to the high level of violence”, according to the statement. The crowd then threw objects at the car and punched and kicked it.
The police were able to push the attackers back and called for reinforcements. Further patrols were finally able to arrest a suspected perpetrator, according to the press release. The group tried to prevent the arrest. Another person was therefore reported for obstructing an official act.
