Several family members of a Palestinian employed by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) died in fighting in the Gaza Strip on Monday.
Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis expressed his deepest condolences to the employee, as the FDFA announced on Monday evening.
For reasons of data protection and personal privacy, no further details could be given, the FDFA added in response to a request from the Keystone-SDA news agency.
The FDFA is responsible for the security of its staff in the context of their work for the department. For FDFA staff, there are risk-based security measures that are adapted to the respective context.
According to the Radio of Italian Switzerland (RSI), his wife and two children, as well as other relatives of the employee, were killed in the air attack on the family home.
