In a large-scale police operation, 39 people have been arrested in Lausanne for drug trafficking. The police also confiscated over a kilogram of cocaine, various other drugs and CHF 48,000 in cash.

The Vaudois police and the Lausanne police - a total of 57 officers - carried out the raid on May 14 in a house in Lausanne. They searched several apartments in the building, which served as a base for drug trafficking, as the Vaud police announced on Tuesday.

Of those arrested, two were immediately sentenced to prison, four were remanded in custody and three were transferred to other cantons to serve their sentences. The remaining persons were released after the checks were completed.

According to the press release, all of the individuals were linked to drug trafficking, in particular cocaine trafficking on the streets of various towns in the canton of Vaud. Most of them are Nigerian and Ghanaian nationals aged between 22 and 40.
