39-year-old inmate of Bern regional prison dead

A 39-year-old inmate of Bern Regional Prison died in hospital on Wednesday evening for reasons that have not yet been clarified. The Swiss national was found in a critical condition in his cell on Thursday last week; initial resuscitation attempts were of no avail.
The Bern cantonal police launched an investigation, as they reported on Thursday. The exact cause of death is being investigated by the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the University of Bern.
