A man is to stand trial in the district court in Weinfelden on Tuesday for the death of his wife. According to the indictment, the public prosecutor is demanding a conviction for murder. The 44-year-old is said to have stabbed his wife several times in 2023.

On a Friday morning in April 2023, a 39-year-old woman died in Erlen TG after an act of violence in her home. Her husband had felt "insulted in his honor" and "humiliated in his pride" after finding out about his wife's extramarital affairs. This is what the public prosecutor's indictment says.

The public prosecutor's office accuses the now 44-year-old of stabbing his wife eight times with a kitchen knife. The North Macedonian is also alleged to have strangled the woman. Although he recognized her life-threatening condition, the man is said to have left his wife in the kitchen. He did this without calling the emergency services.

In the meantime, the man took a shower, smoked cigarettes and drank coffee in the living room. Only after he was certain that his wife was dead did the North Macedonian call the cantonal police, according to the public prosecutor's office. According to the indictment, the woman died of her injuries from the stabbing and strangulation. Among other things, the injuries had led to severe blood loss.

Public prosecutor's office demands expulsion

When the police arrived, the 44-year-old was arrested. Since then, he has been in pre-trial detention and, since mid-September 2023, in early release.

The public prosecutor's office pleaded murder and demanded a prison sentence of 17 years. The North Macedonian should also be deported from the country for 15 years.
