6-year-old dies in traffic accident in Sargans SG

A 6-year-old boy was killed in a traffic accident in Sargans SG on Tuesday lunchtime. The child was hit by a truck on the sidewalk and fatally injured.
A 56-year-old driver turned right with his truck onto a sidewalk into a street shortly before 12 noon. In doing so, he overlooked the boy who was traveling in the same direction on a kickboard on the sidewalk, according to the St. Gallen cantonal police.
According to the statement, the child died at the scene of the accident despite the immediate deployment of the emergency services. In addition to several patrols from the St. Gallen cantonal police, a rescue team, a public prosecutor, psychological first aid and the local fire department were also deployed.
