80-year-old dies in Moudon VD after feeling unwell at the wheel

An 80-year-old driver caused a traffic accident in Moudon VD on Tuesday. His car hit another car that had stopped in front of a level crossing. The elderly driver died at the scene, presumably as a result of fainting.
The traffic accident occurred at around 1.40 p.m. on Tuesday on Bahnhofstrasse in Moudon, as reported by the Vaud cantonal police on Wednesday. Witnesses alerted the police to the rear-end collision and attempted to resuscitate a man lying on the ground. According to initial findings, it was the man who caused the accident, who had presumably collapsed at the wheel.
The 80-year-old resident of the region died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the car that was hit was slightly injured. The public prosecutor's office opened a criminal investigation.
