Following the heavy thunderstorms at the weekend, a section of the A9 highway in central Valais was still closed in both directions on Monday morning. The stretch between Siders-Ost and Sitten-West was also impassable due to flooding.

Traffic is being diverted locally, according to TCS traffic information and the "truckinfo.ch" website of the Federal Roads Office Astra. The pass road over the Simplon, which is also a national road, was also still closed due to a landslide.

According to Astra, it is possible to drive from Brig to the Barralhaus at the top of the pass. However, the stretch from Barralhaus to Simplon-Dorf is closed.

According to TCS and Saas-Fee Tourism, the road between Saas-Baalen and Saas-Grund before the well-known tourist resort of Saas-Fee was still closed on Monday morning. Zermatt, on the other hand, was accessible. The Nufenen Pass between Ulrichen VS and Airolo TI at the pass crossing was still closed on Monday morning.
