A Piper motorized aircraft missed take-off at the airfield in Yverdon-les-Bains (VD) on Tuesday afternoon. It collided with gliders parked nearby at the end of the runway. The three people in the plane were uninjured and were able to leave the plane on their own.

The incident was reported at around 3 p.m., as a spokesman for the Vaudois police told the Keystone-SDA news agency. The aircraft and several gliders were damaged, he added.

The exact reasons for the accident during the take-off maneuver were not yet known early Tuesday evening. The Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (Sust) has launched an investigation to clarify the cause and course of the accident.
