The Swiss branch of the German discounter Aldi will focus more on food in future. Customers are increasingly ordering non-food items such as kitchen appliances, tools and clothing online, Aldi wrote in a press release on Tuesday.
For years, Aldi Suisse stores have therefore seen a decline in demand for such products. In response to this, the non-food range has been reduced in recent months.
Instead, Aldi is using the space freed up in the stores to expand its food range. Particular attention is being paid to fresh products such as fruit and vegetables, regional specialties and organic products. However, Aldi Suisse is also expanding its frozen food range. In addition, foods from the Balkans, Mexico, Asia and Iberia "have been given a permanent place".
