Alleged perpetrator of the homicide in Hochwald SO deceased

The perpetrator allegedly responsible for the killing of a pensioner in Hochwald SO died at the beginning of January. The criminal investigation against the 81-year-old, which was already at an advanced stage, was discontinued, as the Solothurn public prosecutor's office announced on Wednesday.
On July 9, 2022, a pensioner was found dead in a detached house in Hochwald SO. On the same day, the police in the canton of Solothurn arrested a suspect. He was remanded in custody for several months, as the public prosecutor's office confirmed at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency.
The accused has since been released and died at the beginning of January. The public prosecutor's office closed the criminal investigation for intentional homicide "as a result of the death of the accused", according to its own statements.
