Already 14 kilometers of traffic jam on the Gotthard – broken-down vehicle cleared

A fourteen-kilometer-long traffic jam formed in front of the north portal of the Gotthard road tunnel earlier on Saturday afternoon. A broken-down vehicle that was slowing traffic in the tunnel in the northbound direction was cleared.
This was announced by a media spokesperson for the cantonal police of Uri to the Keystone-SDA news agency on request earlier on Saturday afternoon. The police spokesman went on to say that the broken-down vehicle had not affected southbound traffic. Northbound traffic was only disrupted to a minor extent.
According to the TCS traffic information on the short message service X, the traffic jam between Quinto and Airolo TI was six kilometers long in the early afternoon. Drivers heading north had to accept a waiting time of up to one hour.
With a traffic jam length of fourteen kilometers, there was a waiting time of two hours and twenty minutes in front of the north portal. This traffic jam stretched between Erstfeld and Göschenen UR.
