The tourism company Andermatt Swiss Alps (ASA) has received planning permission from the municipality of Tujetsch for the Dieni resort. The project comprises a completely new part of the village with 13 buildings.
This will enable ASA to realize a major construction project on the Grisons side of the Andermatt-Sedrun destination for the first time, as detailed in a press release issued by the company on Thursday. The 13 buildings with a total of 410 hotel rooms are to be built at the end of the valley in Sedrun/Dieni by 2029. There are also 119 additional residential units for sale. The start of construction is planned for 2026.
Same number of hotel rooms as in Andermatt
This means that roughly the same number of hotel rooms will be built on the Graubünden side as in Andermatt itself. However, the number of apartments is much smaller: over 700 apartments have been built in Andermatt, said ASA spokesperson Stefan Kern when asked by the news agency AWP.
In addition, the positioning is completely different: While the Dieni resort in the 3-star segment is aimed at families and groups, Andermatt is positioned in the 4-star category.
And so the investments in the Graubünden village are also significantly lower: investments of around 170 million francs are planned there. In Andermatt, on the other hand, around 1.5 billion has been invested, said Kern.
