Antoine Martin has been appointed as the new member of the Swiss National Bank (SNB) Board of Directors. The Federal Council appointed him on Friday to succeed Andréa Maechler, who was proposed by the SNB Board. Martin is a professor of economics at the University of Lausanne and has been a member of the SNB's Monetary Policy Committee since 2015. He has also served as a consultant to the Bank for International Settlements and the International Monetary Fund. He is an expert in macroeconomics, monetary policy, and financial stability. His appointment is expected to bring a new perspective to the SNB's decision-making process. Martin's appointment is effective immediately and he will serve a six-year term.
