Apple and Fifa do not sign TV deal for Club World Cup 2025

No agreement has been reached between Apple and football's world governing body Fifa for the global TV broadcasting rights to the new Club World Cup 2025. Instead, FIFA announced that the rights would be awarded by tender for various territories.
The bidding process will begin for the tournament, which starts in less than a year, and the 2029 Club World Cup in North and South America, Asia, the Middle East and North Africa. The procedure for Europe will start later, according to a FIFA press release. This involves rights for a total of 63 matches for the new tournament from June 15 to July 13 in the USA.
The New York Times reported in April that an agreement was imminent, causing a stir. It is now clear that this deal will not happen.
No Swiss clubs
Fifa did not want to comment on the alleged deal with Apple, nor did the technology group, which already owns football rights. Apple has a worldwide ten-year contract with Major League Soccer.
Twelve of the 32 teams from Europe are taking part in the new Club World Cup format. No Swiss clubs are taking part. FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are taking part from the Bundesliga. So far, 29 clubs have qualified, including the Champions League winners from 2021 to 2024. A maximum of two clubs per country are allowed to take part.
