Artur Lescher wins the Zurich Art Prize 2025

The Zurich Art Prize 2025 goes to the Brazilian artist Artur Lescher. The award is endowed with a total of CHF 100,000, a prize money of CHF 20,000 and CHF 80,000 for the production of a solo exhibition at Museum Haus Konstruktiv.
Artur Lescher has been making a name for himself with sculptures since the 1980s. In a statement on Tuesday, Museum Haus Konstruktiv praised Lescher's work for the tension between "strict form and subtle liveliness", which lends his sculptures a "mysterious, haunting poetic quality".
Lescher incorporates materials such as stone, metal, wood, water and salt into his sculptures. In his work, he explores the special properties and possibilities of such materials.
The jury also praised the artist's ability to respond to the architecture of the respective exhibition spaces with his work. "His sculptures not only fit into the space, but interact with it," the press release states. Artur Lescher was born in 1962 in São Paulo, where he lives and works.
The international Zurich Art Prize is awarded annually by Haus Konstruktiv and the Zurich Insurance Group. Artur Lescher is the 18th prize winner, following the German artist Olaf Apfelbaum last year.
