Avalanche accident in Bivio GR claims second victim

The first serious avalanche accident of this winter in Bivio GR has claimed a second victim. The Italian, who was admitted to hospital in a critical condition, died on Friday in the cantonal hospital in Chur, as the Graubünden cantonal police confirmed on Saturday in response to an inquiry from the Italian news agency Ansa.
The avalanche accident occurred last Thursday morning in Bivio. A 42-year-old ski tourer from Italy was swept away by an avalanche and killed. The second buried Italian, also aged 42, died of his injuries in the cantonal hospital in Chur. A 32-year-old ski tourer remained uninjured. The three Italians had been skiing down the slope from Piz Grevasalvas towards Bivio when they were caught in the avalanche.
