Baerbock: Switzerland is a good place for Ukraine peace summit

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has welcomed the plans for a Ukraine peace conference on the Bürgenstock in June. Switzerland is a good place for this, she said.
In view of Russian President Vladimir Putin's brutal violence in Ukraine, it is "all the more important that we as a global community make it clear: We all around the world want peace." The Green Party representative said this at a meeting in Berlin on Thursday. "Switzerland is a good place to underline this," said Baerbock.
The peace summit in Switzerland underlines "that the whole world has been doing everything it can for two years now to ensure that peace is finally restored in Ukraine and that peace is finally restored on the European continent," said Baerbock, assessing the chances of success for the meeting. There had been numerous preparatory meetings where very different countries had come together to gradually achieve this peace.
The peace conference is planned for June 15 and 16 on the Bürgenstock in the canton of Nidwalden. This was announced by the Federal Council on Wednesday.
