Bathing ban for the Maggia and parts of Lake Maggiore

Swimming in the Maggia and parts of Lake Maggiore is prohibited as a result of the severe storms last weekend. This was announced by the Ticino emergency services on Thursday.
Accordingly, swimming in Lake Maggiore is prohibited wherever debris and wood has been washed up by the storm. The areas in Locarno, Ascona and Tenero are specifically affected.
A lifting of the ban will only be considered after ongoing analyses by the cantonal laboratory have been completed, it said.
