According to Health Minister Elisabeth Baume-Schneider, the proposal for uniform financing of all outpatient and inpatient healthcare services will ease the burden on premium payers. She is therefore hoping for a yes vote on November 24.

It was not pleasant to announce the massive premium increases in some cantons, the Minister of Health told the media in Bern on Thursday. There will also be an increase next year. She hopes that this will not be in the same proportions.

There is a will to act, Baume-Schneider assured. And there is the vote on the bill for the uniform financing of outpatient and inpatient healthcare services (Efas) on November 24. Because it will take time before this bill can be implemented, she hopes that the cantons will support premium payers.

Because in order to be able to announce lower premiums, you have to start with the costs. Baume-Schneider also relies on alternative models and pilot projects in the cantons. "They allow us to see what works against high costs and what doesn't."
