Evacuations are planned in Ticino due to the rainfall forecast for the weekend. Precautionary measures have been taken due to the rainfall expected over the next few days and the risk analysis.
The population of the Bavona Valley will be almost entirely evacuated by helicopter on Friday. This was announced on Friday by the regional command staff (SMRC), which is working to deal with the events in Vallemaggia.
Further evacuations are planned for Saturday. Residents are asked to leave the affected areas in consultation with the municipalities concerned and the emergency services. Road access to the areas affected by the measures will then be closed to private traffic, it was reported.
For those who cannot be accommodated with relatives or friends, accommodation will be provided at the civil protection center in Ascona, according to the press release. Ongoing analyses are being carried out to update the emergency plans.
