Bern's city government has strongly condemned the riots and serious attacks on the police around the Reitschule meeting center at the weekend. It will now intensify the dialog with all parties involved, as it announced on Wednesday.
The massive violence against members of the police force is incomprehensible and deeply shocking, the city government wrote in a communiqué. It hopes that the perpetrators can be brought to justice.
The city government now wants to intensify the exchange between the authorities involved and work through the current incidents together with all departments of the city and canton, as it went on to write. In particular, it continues to attach great importance to the regular talks with the Reitschule. An escalation like last weekend is unacceptable.
During the night from Saturday to Sunday, eleven police officers were injured in riots at the riding school. The police were attacked with stones, bottles, fireworks and lasers, among other things. The police used rubber bullets, water cannons and irritants.
