Retour au fil d'actualité

Bishop Felix Gmür has immediately removed a priest from his duties in the canton of Jura. The suspended priest is alleged to have abused a minor in the summer of 2014 abroad. Bishop Gmür has immediately relieved the alleged perpetrator and informed the cantonal prosecutor of Jura and the Vatican authorities of the case. The alleged perpetrator is currently under the jurisdiction of a French diocese and a church-law investigation has been initiated in parallel to the civil proceedings. According to a recent analysis of secret archives of Roman Catholic institutions by historians from the University of Zurich, at least 1002 cases of sexual abuse have been committed by Catholic clergy and religious in Switzerland in the past 70 years. This report was presented to the public last week.
