Germany has announced the introduction of stationary border controls at its borders with Poland, Czech Republic and Switzerland. This has already had an impact on Switzerland, with traffic delays in Kreuzlingen TG and Basel. At the Weil-Friedlingen border crossing, the customs controls are particularly noticeable, causing delays to the Basel-Weil am Rhein tram line. The German Interior Minister, Nancy Faeser, justified the decision to introduce the controls with the aim of limiting irregular migration.
