A large rockslide occurred in Corsier-sur-Vevey VD on Friday morning. No one was injured, but some roads were blocked.
Among the falling masses of rock and earth was a huge boulder that crashed onto the A9 highway bridge near La Veyre, as reported by various media in western Switzerland. However, the viaduct was not damaged, as Marjorie Recordon, spokeswoman for the Vaud cantonal police, told the Keystone-SDA news agency. A geologist and engineers were on site to assess the damage.
A total of around 100 cubic meters of rubble fell at around 10.00 am. The landslide led to one road being closed. A smaller road was completely blocked, so that two houses were no longer accessible, as the police spokeswoman went on to explain. It was initially unclear how many people were unable to return to their homes before the evacuation work was completed.
