Retour au fil d'actualité

The direct railway connection between Neuchâtel and La Chaux-de-Fonds is progressing. The route of the future 16 kilometre long track is now known. According to the SBB, the combination of steep gradients with a high operating speed is pioneering work in Europe. Approximately 90 percent of the new infrastructure will run through tunnels, as announced by the SBB, the Canton of Neuchâtel and the Federal Government on Thursday. The chosen route envisages the creation of an intermediate station in Cernier NE, where trains can cross. In Neuchâtel, the entrance portal of the tunnel is planned near the Mail Bridge in the Portes-Rouges district. In La Chaux-de-Fonds, the portal is planned northwest of the existing railway tunnel. The new line will allow a direct connection between Neuchâtel and La Chaux-de-Fonds in 15 minutes. The pre-project phase will begin this autumn and will last two years. The commissioning of the line is planned between 2035 and 2039. The costs are estimated at 1.38 billion Swiss francs.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
