The Electricity Act offers more Swiss electricity at more stable prices for the Swiss economy and trade. This is why renowned representatives from the business world are campaigning for a Yes vote on the energy package decree on June 9.
According to the business umbrella organization Economiesuisse, the Swiss Trade Association, Bauenschweiz, Auto-Schweiz and the Swiss Tourism Association, the law passed by parliament sets the right course, as stated in a press release on Friday. The associations are campaigning together in the referendum under the name "Alliance for a secure electricity supply". This was created on the initiative of the umbrella organization of the economy for renewable energies and energy efficiency (Aeesuisse) and the Association of Swiss Electricity Companies (VSE).
The Electricity Act provides for binding expansion targets for electricity production by 2035 and 2050. According to the Alliance, only domestic, renewable energies can meet this demand quickly. Domestic and regional electricity production would also have a positive impact on value creation in Switzerland. Industry in particular could benefit greatly from the expansion of production.
According to the first SRG trend survey published on Friday, supporters of the Electricity Act currently have a large lead. According to the survey, 75 percent were in favor of the bill.
A referendum is held on the energy decree passed by Parliament after the Fondation Franz Weber (FFW) submitted a referendum.
