In the canton of St. Gallen, two young wolves from the Schils pack in the area bordering the canton of Glarus were killed last weekend. According to a press release, the pack killed several protected sheep this year on various alps in the Schils and Weisstannental valleys.
The regulation of the Schilt pack is therefore over for this year, the canton of St. Gallen wrote in a press release on Tuesday. On October 1, it ordered the shooting of two young wolves from this pack after the federal government had given its approval.
The regulation of the Calanda-2 pack, which is being pursued together with the canton of Graubünden, is still pending. Two young wolves have also been released for shooting there.
At the end of September, cantonal gamekeepers shot one of three cubs from the Gamserrugg pack in Toggenburg.
