Cars Queue Up at Gotthard for Ten Kilometers

The summer holidays in Switzerland have begun, and this has led to an increase in traffic on the roads. On Monday afternoon, a ten kilometre long car queue formed at the Gotthard-Nordportal on the A2 between Erstfeld UR and Göschenen UR, with a waiting time of up to one hour and fifty minutes. At the same time, a four kilometre long traffic overload was also registered at the Southportal between Quinto TI and Airolo TI. On the weekend, a fifteen kilometre long traffic jam formed at the Gotthard-Nordportal, with a waiting time of two hours and thirty minutes. On Sunday afternoon, a five kilometre long traffic overload was also registered at the Gotthard-Südportal, with a waiting time of fifty minutes. The summer holidays in Switzerland have led to an increase in traffic on the roads, resulting in long queues and waiting times.
