Cars will be allowed to drive over the Furka Pass again from June 21

The canton of Uri wants to lift the winter closure of the Furka Pass from 9 a.m. on June 21. The Susten Pass, meanwhile, is not due to open until June 28.
Depending on the weather conditions, however, the winter closure of the Susten Pass could be extended again, the canton of Uri announced on Tuesday. The snow clearing work is demanding, and the road still has to be cleaned and railings installed afterwards. The rock clearance work is also labor-intensive and must be carried out conscientiously.
