CH Media on Elisabeth Baume-Schneider’s change of department

CH Media comments on Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider's move from the Department of Justice to the Department of Home Affairs as follows:
"After just one year, SP Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider is leaving the Federal Department of Justice (FDJP). There can be no question of continuity. Those close to her are mainly citing personal reasons for the change. (...) This shows a strange understanding of office. And it is not credible anyway. The fact is that the FDJP is now the most unpopular and unattractive department in Bern. (...) Because the worldwide migration movements to Europe and thus also to Switzerland cannot be stopped in an office in Bern. Of course, this does not prevent the SVP from constantly attacking the justice ministers responsible and accusing them of failure. Nevertheless, the party has missed several opportunities in recent years to assume responsibility in the FDJP. It also knows that there is nothing to gain there."
