The General Assembly of the Association of Swiss Electricity Companies (VSE) elected Martin Schwab as its new President on Thursday in Lugano. The CKW boss succeeds Michael Wider, who retired from the Alpiq electricity group.

Schwab has been head of Centralschweizerische Kraftwerke (CKW) since 2018 and is already a member of the VSE Board. Prior to this, the Bernese national was Head of Finance at CKW's parent company Axpo for seven years. Wider has chaired the association since 2017.

He will be replaced on the Board by Alpiq Group CEO Antje Kanngiesser, as the VSE also announced. Also new to the Board is David Maurer, Managing Director of Energie- und Wasserversorgung Oberburg (EWO). He represents the umbrella organization Swiss Distribution System Operators (DSV).
