Retour au fil d'actualité
Last year, the Swiss Climate Foundation granted CHF 2.4 million to 17 innovation projects. Compared to 2022, the total amount of funding thus increased by around half a million francs, with the same number of projects supported.
Seven projects supported in previous years were terminated early, according to the Swiss Climate Foundation's 2023 annual report published on Tuesday. This happens when the path of a company that has applied for funding does not lead to the hoped-for success - or if it is not possible to build the necessary structures to establish the project, the report continued.
The early termination of older projects freed up an amount of around CHF 600,000, which flowed back into the development fund.
Last year, the focus of support was on projects in the two areas of energy production and food and agriculture. For example, an ETH spin-off is developing an agricultural robot that uses a laser to destroy weeds in vegetable fields, controlled by electricity and GPS. A Geneva-based company, on the other hand, is developing solar modules that resist the wind by oscillating - to ensure electricity production on cultivated land.
According to the Climate Foundation, the focus is determined by the number and quality of applications received as well as the climate protection potential. The main reason for funding is the avoidance of CO2 emissions; the sector is secondary.
According to the Climate Foundation, more than 70 percent of the projects supported over the past 15 years have come from the areas of energy production, buildings and construction, food and agriculture as well as industrial and consumer goods. The Swiss Climate Foundation has existed as an independent foundation since 2008 and is under federal supervision.
