The Swiss people will not be able to vote on the Landscape Initiative as the committee has conditionally withdrawn its request and is relying on the strict implementation of the revised spatial planning law. This law was passed by Parliament in the autumn. Thanks to the initiative, Parliament has included one of the main objectives of the initiators in the spatial planning law: the stabilization of the number of buildings outside the building area. The initiative committee decided to withdraw its request with a large majority. However, it wants to follow how the responsible authorities deal with the legally possible special zones for additional conversions of existing buildings. The sponsors of the initiative will be politically active again if necessary.
