The drinking water in Alta Vallemaggia in Ticino is contaminated. On Sunday morning, the authorities warned people via Alertswiss not to consume the tap water.
The area from Cevio, Vaö Rovana, Val Bavona and Val Lavizzara was affected, according to Alertswiss. Drinking water should therefore not be used for drinking, cooking or washing until further notice.
The storm on Sunday night caused flooding in parts of Ticino. People in Prato-Sornico and the Maggia Valley were called upon via Alertswiss to evacuate houses near the river and to go to higher ground. The federal natural hazard portal briefly raised the danger level for the region to level four ("major danger").
