The Swiss Recycling Association announced on Wednesday that over 70 organisations have signed a declaration of intent to create a nationwide collection and recycling system for plastic packaging and beverage cartons. Signatories include Tetra Pak, Emmi, Nestlé, Coop and Migros, among others. The goal is to close the cycle for plastic packaging and beverage cartons by 2030, with a recycling rate of 55% for plastics and 70% for beverage cartons, in line with EU targets. A collection bag will be offered nationwide, and the cost of the bag will be covered by contributions from the producers, distributors and revenues from recycled materials. The exact start date for the system has yet to be determined.nnnnnnnnnn
